| Anatomy of Movement Workshops |
In this series of workshops we reconsider anatomy of the human body from a movement perspective. We deconstruct both our ideas of the body and the body itself and explore each part. We will create a new relationship with the specific part of the body, considering its function, evolution, relationship to its environment and embodiment. As we progress through these workshops we will reconstruct our bodies and build a new understanding of the human structure. Attention will be paid to the way our bodies feel as we move, how each part relates to the other and how the whole relates to gravity and its environment. We draw valuable information to use in your body today. They are also structured to fit the needs of the layperson as well as the seasoned practitioner. We strive to help the body move in the world with greater fluidity.

Shoulders & Neck Workshop
In this class we follow the motion of gravity through the trunk up into the shoulder and neck on its way out of our heads. We will learn to connect with the rhythm of the scapula and its relationship with the muscles of the back and spine. How is it that this shoulder girdle participates in the vertical lift out of the Earth? Discover how these two arms and shoulder girdle mirror the legs and pelvis. Experience how the spinal column thrusts upward through the neck, creating an upper pole that supports the head and allows free movement of the sense organs. Finally, we realize full suspension of the human body out of gravity and free mobility.
Instructor: Nan Feist
Time: 2-4:30pm
Cost: $25
Registration: Please call (253) 882-5543 - Nan Feist, Director of Movement Studies

Foot & Foundation Workshop
In this class we will be redefining our relationship with the foot. We will discuss the evolution of the foot from fin to current structure and function. We will explore the relationship between our nervous system, feet, gravity and the Earth. We will include the relationship between the foot and pelvic floor and discover how our foot creates the foundation that organizes us upright. Additionally, this class will include self-care of the feet. It is an eclectic mix of approaches from Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gyrokinesis, Rolf Movement, Thai Yoga Massage, Kum Nye Yoga and the Pilates Method.

Pelvic Floor Workshop
A 3.5 hour workshop covering anatomy, evolution, issues such as prolapse, stress incontinence, c-section, birth damage, hysterectomy, back pain, abdominal surgery, etc. and learning specialized movement to assess your own pelvis, as well as to rebalance it. We will learn about hunter/gatherer movement patterns to better understand how the body breaks down and how to enliven our joints in gravity, including pelvic floor. Students come away with deep personal understanding of their body and a handout with much of the information and exercises they learn in the workshop.
Instructor: Meli Macourek
Time: TBD
Cost: $65

Abs & Trunk Workshop
In this class we experience gravity rising up from the foot and moving through the bones of the pelvis, spine and ribs. We will peel away the fascial layers of the body to explore the abdominal and back muscles' connection to this rhythm of the bones. We will focus on the relationship of the rib structure, pelvic structure, legs and the Earth. Travel even deeper with us to discover the connection of the organs to the movement of the trunk. Explore with us weight bearing and walking in the vertical plane. Feel the influence of the diaphragm that orients us to gravity and space. We will discuss how it is that we crawled out of the sea, walked on four feet and came to this unique vertical position on two legs.
Instructor: Nan Feist
Time: 2-4:30pm
Cost: $25
Registration: Please call (253) 882-5543 - Nan Feist, Director of Movement Studies
