Carmina Burana

“Choreographer Erin Ceragioli’s opening tableau is striking: a sea of faces behind a transparent scrim and lit from above peers out on a dark stage. The dance corps is poised and in position up front, while overhead three giant wood crosses hang suspended horizontally. Bodies lie atop the crosses, and behind them and overhead hangs a giant wheel of fortune, its Latin inscription flowing under a spotlight. Pretty portentous stuff.” – Douglas McLennan, The News Tribune, May 1, 1993

Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, A Musical Oratorio with Songs for Soloists and Choruses, Accompanied by Instruments and Magic Images, was first created into a neo-classical ballet choreographed by Artistic Director, Erin M. Ceragioli in 1993. Experience one of the most powerful scores ever written while watching this stunningly beautiful choreography. See Tacoma City Ballet and the Tacoma City Ballet Orchestra and Chorus at the beautiful Pantages Theater.
